Hungary tightens epidemic prevention and control measures

  Xinhua News Agency, Budapest, March 4 (Reporter Yuan Liang) The Minister of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office Guas Gelgey said on the 4th that in response to the third wave of the epidemic, the government has decided to implement more stringent epidemic prevention and control measures.

  Guas announced the country's new epidemic prevention and control measures at a press conference that day.

Except for supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations and other places that provide daily necessities and services, other commercial institutions will be closed from March 8 to 22; kindergartens and primary schools will be closed from March 8 to April 7.

  Hungary has implemented strict epidemic prevention and control measures from November 11, 2020, including a nationwide curfew from 20 am to 5 am of the next day, restaurants only providing food delivery services, and universities and middle schools changing to online teaching.

These measures have been extended four times and will be implemented until March 15.

  According to data released by the Hungarian New Crown Epidemic Prevention and Control Center on the 4th, the country has 6278 new confirmed cases and a total of 446,178 confirmed cases; 152 new deaths and a total of 15,476 deaths; and a total of 328,136 cases have been cured.
