The trauma remains for the victim but justice passes.

This Thursday evening, the Assize Court of Haute-Garonne condemned the four Toulouse perpetrators of the gang rape perpetrated in September 2018 in the parking lot of the nightclub Carpe Diem, in Balma, in the suburbs of Toulouse.

A ten-year prison sentence was handed down against the instigator of the 18-year-old woman's ordeal.

His two friends who participated in the facts and posted the videos on Snapchat, were sentenced to nine years, a fourth boy of seven years.

"A conception of unilateral consent"

At midday, after four days of trial in camera, the attorney general had requested sentences ranging from thirteen to nine years in prison.

And the victim, who hoped to hear sincere regrets, was not answered.

“The defendants have only uttered a stammering apology of opportunity, they have shown no empathy, deplores Issa Ravyn, his lawyer.

“I have the painful feeling that for three of the four defendants, their conception of consent is one-sided,” she adds.

In their pleadings, the defense lawyers tried to downplay the seriousness of the facts by describing "an evening that gets out of hand in a context of alcoholism".

"The reconstruction will take a long time, but it will succeed, she is a strong young woman," the victim's lawyer assured after the verdict.

She came to face her tormentors, she looked at them and said to them "You did not destroy me".

This is the message she wanted to convey to all rape victims, that victims have nothing to be ashamed of, ever ”.
