Dresden (dpa / sn) - The childcare facilities in Saxony are already approaching full operation again despite the restrictions that still apply.

As of March 3, day care centers, kindergartens and after-school care centers were used by around four fifths of the children, the Saxon City and Community Day (SSG) announced on Thursday in Dresden.

The Vogtlandkreis is an exception.

In the three independent cities of Dresden, Chemnitz and Leipzig, 82 percent of the children went to their crèche or kindergarten and 82 percent to the after-school care center, according to the SSG.

In the towns and municipalities belonging to the district - excluding the Vogtland district - the proportion of children who attended crèches and kindergartens was 84 percent and in the after-school centers 82 percent.

In the Vogtlandkreis, where only emergency care is currently permitted, 35 percent of the children in the crèches and kindergartens and 18 percent of the children in the after-school care centers took advantage of the information.

After the Saxon day-care centers were closed for regular operations in December and only emergency care was possible, they have been open again for limited regular operations since February 15.

This does not apply to the Vogtlandkreis, which, by a general decree of February 26th, suspended childcare and childcare from February 27th due to the increasing number of infections.
