Nearly 5,000 delegates and advisers from the Chinese Communist Party are meeting this week in Congress in Beijing.

This Thursday, March 4, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opens;

tomorrow, Friday, will be the National People's Congress.

With, like last year, a strict health protocol.

Crosswalk lights sing to themselves in the early morning hours of Beijing.

Few people in the arteries near Chang'an Avenue where the large hotels welcoming the Liang Hui delegates are located, the parliamentary "two sessions" as the Chinese say.

Fluorescent vests on uniforms, police officers control access to Tiananmen Square, residents are asked to present their identity papers;

the subway exits near the Great People's Palace have already been closed for a few days.

A delivery man emerges from the fog with two bowls of noodles, stop!

We're not going any further!

"

The GPS card is white

"

For this delivery man, “

if the delivery area is subject to restrictions, we have warned.

Customers are called and they come to pick up what they have ordered.

It's more stringent at the moment.

There are even places where the GPS map is white, it is often near government buildings.

 "

Security checks, health checks too: with the restrictions on entering and leaving the capital during the Lunar New Year holidays, everything has been done to prevent the virus from returning to Beijing.

Cameras recording body temperatures at reception;

lifts and hotel meeting rooms are disinfected every two hours.

All tested, all vaccinated

The parliamentarians are tested and for the most part vaccinated (200 Hong Kong pro-Beijing delegates, in particular, received their dose of vaccine in Shenzhen).

Just like the drivers of the buses and sedans that make the connection between the People's Grand Palace and the accommodation sites, where, like last year, delegates are invited not to go out for the duration of the Congress.
