The head of the national unity government in Libya, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, today, Thursday, handed over the proposed names for his government to the Presidency of the Parliament.

The Media Office of the Prime Minister announced that this step comes in compliance with the road map and the procedures specified in the political agreement to hand over the government’s formation before holding a joint session to grant confidence on March 8 in Sirte.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Representatives meeting in Tobruk, eastern Libya, invited all members of the House to hold a joint session to vote on granting confidence to the government of national unity.

The government of Tobruk Parliament headed by Abdullah al-Thani sent a letter to all ministries, agencies and departments affiliated to it, announcing the postponement of the transfer of the names of its representatives participating in the unification of state institutions.

Al-Thinni's government made it clear that it had taken this step until the features of the new political process sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya became clear.

This came in response to what Ahmed Maitiq, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, announced on his account in Twitter about the near announcement of the unification of institutions, departments, banks and state agencies.

On February 5, the Political Dialogue Forum elected a unified executive authority - headed by Abd al-Hamid al-Dabaiba to head the government, and Muhammad al-Manfi to head the Presidency Council - whose primary mission is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021.

Dabaiba had announced - in a tweet on Twitter - that he had two options in forming the government, and that "the lack of consensus in the House of Representatives pushes us to the second option," which indicates that the House of Representatives may not agree, and that the government formation will differ if it is presented to the political dialogue forum, Dabaiba expressed this as the second option in the event that the deputies failed to hold a session of granting confidence to the government.
