Tribsees (dpa / mv) - The corona pandemic does not leave the A20 construction site at Tribsees at the former motorway hole without a trace.

There will be certain delays that will likely cause completion to slip into 2024, said a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH on Thursday.

Most recently there was talk of completion by the end of 2023.

The A20 had sagged and collapsed near Tribsees in autumn 2017.

There was a huge gap.

Since December 2018, traffic has been slowly rolling over a temporary bridge.

A cover on this bridge had loosened last week, which was initially secured provisionally.

For this purpose, Tempo 10 was signposted in this area.

The motorway was fully closed on Thursday for final security.

The spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH added that there are still almost 34 months to the end of 2023.

"Anything can happen in them, both in a positive and a negative sense."

Whether the A20 can be used again without restriction on December 18, 2023 or perhaps only on February 1, 2024, still depends on many factors.
