Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Wednesday that his Fidesz party was leaving the right-wing European People's Party group in the European Parliament.

In a letter posted on Twitter, he denounces an "undemocratic, unjust and unacceptable" approach after a vote by MEPs on a reform of the statutes paving the way for exclusion.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on Wednesday that his party was leaving the European People's Party (EPP, right) group in the European Parliament, in reaction to a vote by MEPs on a reform of the statutes paving the way for exclusion.

"I inform you that the members of Fidesz are withdrawing from the PPE group" with "immediate effect", writes the leader in a letter posted on Twitter by one of his ministers, denouncing an "undemocratic, unjust and unacceptable" approach.
