The Qingshitan Reservoir, located in the upper reaches of the Lijiang River, integrates the functions of drinking water source and Lijiang water supply.
However, since 2000, slabs of cages have appeared uncontrollably on the water surface of the reservoir area, and pig breeding has spread all over the reservoir area.
Qin Chuncheng said that the Guilin Party Committee and government made up their minds and invested nearly 7 billion yuan successively to continue to focus on promoting the comprehensive management and ecological protection of the Lijiang River, starting an unprecedented reform of the Lijiang River management system and implementing the Lijiang River pollution interception and pollution control project. Project, completed the Guilin City Flood Control and Lijiang River Water Replenishment Project, and carried out pollution source treatment.
In recent years, Guilin has shut down 24 small paper mills, 162 quarries, and 126 brick factories.
More than 300 polluted farms within 500 meters of the Qingshitan Reservoir area were demolished, and villagers were supported to switch to green production.
In order to reduce the impact of urban development on the Lijiang River from the source, Guilin City has launched a new development strategy to solve a century-old problem.
"We implemented the development strategy of'protecting the Lijiang River, developing Lingui, and recreating a new Guilin', and formulated the "Guilin Lijiang Scenic Area Master Plan" to promote the development of the city to the west, breaking the urban pattern that has been standing along the Lijiang River for thousands of years, so that Urban and rural construction and industrial development are far away from the Lijiang River." Qin Chuncheng said.
Nowadays, the Lingui New City of Guilin, which integrates government affairs, commerce and cultural life, is emerging. The prototype of the urban characteristics of the integration of mountain, water and city is emerging, and an ecological new city with buildings and natural environment harmoniously coexisting is gradually taking shape.
After a series of iron fist remediation, today the Lijiang River is full of green mountains and clear waters.
In early spring in March, strolling along the Li River, the river is crystal clear, and occasionally you can see a group of egrets flying in the sky.

Guilin City ranks second in the ranking of water environment quality in the national surface water assessment section of cities at prefecture-level and above in the country recently announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China in 2020.
As of the end of 2020, the compliance rate of surface water quality and the compliance rate of centralized drinking water sources in Guilin City have reached 100%, and the water quality of all nationally assessed water flow sections has reached the surface water level II standard.
"The ecological environment of the Lijiang River Basin is getting better and better, and the golden sign of'Guilin's landscape is the best in the world' is getting brighter and brighter." Qin Chuncheng said.
Qin Chuncheng said that through vigorously promoting the "control of chaos, water, mountain, and root cause", the "three improvements" of the Lijiang River's ecological, social and economic benefits have been achieved.
"In the past, people who had money came to Guilin to play, and they didn't have enough money to make money and then came to Guilin. Now it is different. Now not only have money to play in Guilin, but people who want to make money and want to develop also come to Guilin." Qin Chuncheng said.
The high-speed rail train connects to Guilin in Hong Kong. With its good ecology, it has gradually become the "back garden" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and at the same time has gradually become a fertile ground for the development of enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.
Qin Chuncheng said that Guilin has successfully introduced more than 70 well-known companies such as Huawei, Gree, BYD, and Lingyi Intelligent Manufacturing. Shenzhen Science and Technology Intelligent Manufacturing and Kunhong Quantum Communication Projects have filled the gaps in Guangxi.
"Many people say they can still do business and develop industry after they come to Guilin. Why not do it? The autonomous region is now investigating the issue of Guijiang dredging and upgrading. If Guilin is upgraded to a 2,000-ton channel, Guilin’s cargo It will descend along the river, and Guilin’s high-quality fruits and vegetables will flow into the Greater Bay Area on a large scale, making Guilin truly the “back garden” and granary of the Greater Bay Area. At that time, the beautiful Guilin landscape will be transformed into a tangible commodity inflow. The Greater Bay Area flows to ASEAN and the world through Hong Kong." Qin Chuncheng said.
