It is SVT Sapmi that is now expanding its area by hiring a Lule Sámi reporter in southern Sweden.

Together with Norwegian NRK and Finnish YLE, they make the news program Oddasat.

Ánndaris Rimpi is the name of the reporter who will now have his base in Gothenburg but cover Sami issues throughout southern Sweden.

- It feels fantastic and exciting.

It is important to take advantage of the voices from the Sami sparsely populated areas and raise the issues that exist, says Ánndaris Rimpi.

How many Sami are there really in southern Sweden?

- It is difficult to know exactly, but there are Sami associations in both Skåne and Västra Götaland.

Gothenburg resident Erik Tuolja is Sami and works on Volvo trucks.

He also thinks that Sami issues need to be raised in the media.

- In fact, a lot of Sami is happening in southern Sweden, says Erik Tuolja.
