Mosbach (dpa / lsw) - After a suspected street race with a dead person in Mosbach, the trial of a young man begins today, Wednesday.

The 22-year-old is accused of participating in a prohibited race resulting in death and escaping from an accident, the city's district court announced.

He is said to have raced with a motorcyclist on a federal highway.

The defendant braked his car at a red light.

The motorcyclist then had to make an emergency stop and lost control of his vehicle.

The 23-year-old suffered fatal injuries.

The defendant is said to have continued to drive after the accident at the end of May 2020 without taking care of the victim.

The hearing should have started in the autumn, but had been postponed several times because of a sick party.

According to a spokeswoman, the chamber has summoned ten witnesses.

The judges could announce a verdict on Wednesday, it said.
