C. Allain / 20 Minutes

He presented himself on Monday at the gendarmerie in Guichen (Ille-et-Vilaine) to confess his offense.

A young 20-year-old volunteer firefighter admitted to having set fire to two ambulances of a medical transport company early Sunday morning in the town south of Rennes, we learned from the prosecution.

The fire was quickly brought under control by a team of firefighters which also included the young man.

He was immediately taken into custody.

"He gave very few explanations on the reasons for his action other than to complain about the decrease in the interventions of the firefighters", specifies the prosecution.

He will be summoned to court on July 29 for willful damage by fire.

Pending his appearance, he was placed under judicial supervision with obligations of care and the prohibition to exercise the activity of firefighter.
