Munich (dpa / lby) - For the anti-Danube song activists from Passau, this is an important further step: The interior committee in the Bavarian state parliament is discussing the petition today (9.15 a.m.) to prevent the song from being played in Bavaria's beer tents .

"We hope for a fundamental decision and a clear positioning," said initiator Corinna Schütz.

After all, the issue of women's rights concerns society as a whole.

With an online petition, the group, which initially consisted mainly of students, found more than 36,000 supporters across Germany last year.

What bothers the group most about the song is what they say is the trivializing representation of the rape of a girl.

In a widespread version of the song it says: “I got on with the sleeping woman, Ohohoholalala, she no longer heard the rustling of the Danube, Ohohoholalala” or “My girl, my girl, what are you upset about, Ohohoholalala, for me It was nice and sure for you too, Ohohoholalala ».

According to the initiative's will, the song should no longer be played in any of its variations in beer tents.

The online petition and some additions now formed the basis for the discussion in the Interior Committee, said Schütz.

For example, the group also calls for the establishment of a Bavaria-wide anti-discrimination agency.

Passau's Lord Mayor Jürgen Dupper (SPD) announced last summer that he wanted to stand up against the Danube song before the next folk festival.

Other local and regional politicians from different parties support the group's concerns, above all Minister of Social Affairs Carolina Trautner (CSU).

The "Action against beer tent sexism" arose from the initiative.

Protests against this and similar songs also formed in Regensburg and Erlangen.

The city of Montabaur in the Westerwald already forbade playing the Danube song in beer tents.
