Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg Towers have again left the field as a loser in the basketball league.

At Ratiopharm Ulm, the team of coach Pedro Calles lost 76:89 (38:49) on Wednesday evening and thus suffered the ninth defeat in the 19th game.

In the last six games, Hamburg have lost five times.

In addition, the Hanseatic League failed to return the favor with the Ulm team for 69:73 in the first half of the season.

Ulm had ended the series of the Towers of five victories in a row.

The best thrower in the Calles team was Maik Kotsar (18).

The preliminary decision was made in the middle of the second quarter.

Up until then, the Towers had largely balanced the game.

After that, however, the hosts moved away to 42:30 within three minutes.

Shortly after changing sides, the gap even increased to 18 points.

Although the Hamburgers had implemented their plan to allow the Ulmers as few free threesomes as possible until the final quarter, they themselves had a bad hit rate of 31 percent (8/26).

Likewise, only a little more than half of all two-point throws found their way into the basket.

So it was not possible for the Towers to shorten the gap significantly and to put the hosts in danger.
