Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The handball players of HSV Hamburg have won the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Against the pursuer VfL Gummersbach there was a 29:22 (17: 9) on Wednesday evening.

With 35: 5 points, the league leader from the Hanseatic city now has four minus points less than the Oberbergische (29: 9) and third-placed TuS N-Lübbecke (27: 9).

The best throwers of the evening were Niklas Weller with eight goals for Hamburg and Lukas Blohme with five goals for the guests.

The Hamburger started highly concentrated, always had contact to the Gummersbachers in defense, who initially seemed inhibited after the recent defeat against the bottom of the table TuS Fürstenfeldbruck.

At 14: 7 (26th) for HSVH, VfL coach Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson already took the second time out because the more offensive defense of his protégés had no effect either.

Even after the break, not much changed.

The Hanseatic League, in which goalkeeper Jens Vortmann once again delivered a strong game with 15 saves, had an answer ready for every move by the guests.

So the game was decided in the middle of the second half.
