Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After a controversial police operation in Düsseldorf's old town, in addition to the proceedings against four police officers, the proceedings against a then 15-year-old, whom the police officers had fixed on the ground in August 2020, were discontinued.

However, according to the public prosecutor's office, the proceedings for insult, assault and resistance were only discontinued because the juvenile was accused of further criminal offenses in other contexts - which were more serious.

The public prosecutor's office did not disclose what exactly the 16-year-old is accused of because of his young age.

Last August, according to the police, the student disrupted an operation against rioters in the old town and physically attacked an officer.

A short video of the subsequent arrest had spread rapidly on the Internet.

Shortly afterwards, the State Police Department for Training and Personnel Matters rated the police operation as flawless.

The prosecution's investigations into the officers were discontinued a few days ago.

“An unlawful, disproportionate use of force by the accused officials” was “not detectable”, according to a spokeswoman.
