An important beginning for building a new type of people's army

——Visit the Sanwan Adaptation Memorial Hall

Sanwan Village, which is crisscrossed by ridges and surrounded by mountains, was originally an ordinary small village in Yongxin County, Jiangxi Province.

However, a major event that happened 94 years ago made the name "Sanwan" forever inscribed in the history of the Republic.

On the eve of the Spring Festival, when the reporter walked into Sanwan Village, the first thing that caught his eye was the Sanwan Adaptation Memorial Hall hidden in the greenery.

Stepping into the memorial hall, those dilapidated straw sandals in the showcase silently tell of the revolutionary years of hard struggle 94 years ago——

In September 1927, the Autumn Harvest Uprising failed. Jingwenjia City transferred troops. Mao Zedong led the uprising troops to advance south along the Luoxiao Mountains in order to preserve the revolutionary power and further develop...

On the marching road, there was an interception in the front and a chase after it, and wars broke out frequently.

Many officers and soldiers were infected with malaria, and the troops were attrition seriously.

The original revolutionary ranks of more than 5,000 have dropped sharply to less than 1,000.

The enemy is strong, we are weak, hungry and cold, disease raging... the uprising troops are in great danger.

In Mao Zedong's view, the more serious problem is that there is a depression in the army at this time. Some intellectuals and officers and soldiers from the old army are pessimistic and shaken in the face of defeat in the battle and the difficult environment, and often people leave without saying goodbye.

Facing this critical situation, Mao Zedong was distraught.

At a critical juncture, he decided to continue the march while in-depth investigation of the army to find a solution.

When he arrived at the company led by He Tingying, the representative of the first regiment, Mao Zedong's eyes lit up-this company had a strong political atmosphere, not only did no officers and soldiers fall behind, but also had high morale.

"The Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army has fought a number of defeats, with only so few people and guns left in the military. In my opinion, the loss or retreat is not terrible. The terrible thing is that this team does not have a sound party organization leadership!" After exchanging opinions with cadres such as He Tingying and Wan Xixian, Mao Zedong quickly identified the problems that needed to be resolved in the army: first, the army was complicated in composition, and individual officers and soldiers had impure revolutionary motives; second, the lack of strong grassroots party organizations; third, The officers and soldiers are not equal. Some officers have the habit of the old army and often beat and scold soldiers.

On September 29, 1927, after Mao Zedong and his troops arrived in Sanwan Village, he immediately convened an enlarged meeting of the former enemy committee of the Communist Party of China to make a decision to reorganize and reorganize the troops, which was called "Sanwan Reorganization" in history.

A historical document exhibited in the memorial hall recorded the main contents of the Sanwan adaptation: 1. The troops were reduced from one division into one regiment, called the 1st regiment of the 1st Division of the 1st Army of the Workers’ and Peasants Revolutionary Army; Establish party organizations separately, stipulate that squads and platoons shall establish party groups, companies shall establish party branches, and battalions shall establish party committees. All major issues of the army must be determined through collective discussion and decision by the party organization; third, the implementation of a democratic system within the army, company and above Establish a soldier committee to stipulate that officers and soldiers are equal, and officers are not allowed to beat or scold soldiers.

Half a month after the reorganization of Sanwan, Mao Zedong came to Yi Company, personally developed 6 party members, and guided the company to establish the first company party branch in the history of the People's Army, creating a precedent for "branch building on the company."

"After this drastic reorganization, the party organization has formed a system in the army, the party branch has mastered the grassroots level, and the party's leadership over the army has been established." Yin Xinghua, director of the Yongxin County Cultural Relics Bureau, told reporters that due to the strengthening of the party's leadership, The old-style military habits and the peasants’ free-and-sophisticated style have been changed, and the army has undergone a new look, and its cohesion and combat effectiveness have been unprecedentedly improved.

Walking out of the memorial hall and moving to Fengshuping, a big maple tree that has been baptized by the years stands proudly.

On October 3, 1927, before leading the reorganized troops towards Jinggangshan, Mao Zedong stood under this big maple tree and gave an impassioned speech: "Comrades, the enemy is just putting cold guns behind us. What's so great about this... We have two camps with more than 700 guns. Are you afraid that you can't do it?"

"Chairman Mao's prophecy finally became reality. This troop set out from Fengshuping went to Jinggang, took the Long March, marched all the way to the north and south, and finally played a new China!" Now standing under the big maple tree, yearning It was He Jiming, the former vice president of the People's Liberation Army Information Engineering University who came to give a voluntary commentary.

He Jiming, 76, is a native of Sanwan Village. His father is an old Red Army. He has personally experienced and witnessed the adaptation of Sanwan.

With a deep affection for Sanwan, after retirement, He Jiming returned to his hometown to study party and military history in depth, visited the old revolution and the old Red Army, formed a research data of more than 20,000 words, and served as an obligatory interpreter.

In the past 15 years, he has given more than 2,000 lectures to tourists.

"The Sanwan reorganization is an important beginning for the construction of a new type of people's army. It is a milestone in the history of the Chinese revolution and the building of the people's army." He Jiming told reporters that history is the best textbook.

His greatest wish now is to continue to use the residual heat and tell more people about this red history of his hometown, so as to inspire future generations to stay true to their original intentions and move forward.
