EU-European Union Chairman Von der Leyen will issue a bill later this month to issue a common EU certificate to vaccinated people to ease movement restrictions in the region as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus. I announced that I would submit it.

In the EU, as a measure to prevent the spread of infection, each country prohibits unnecessary and urgent cross-border movement in principle.

EU Chairman Von der Leyen announced on Twitter yesterday that he will submit a bill to issue a common EU digital certificate to vaccinated people later this month.

Regarding the certificate, he emphasized its significance as the economy in the region is declining due to movement restrictions, etc., saying that it is "to enable safe movement inside and outside the EU in stages".

Greece, which is active in tourism, has already called for the introduction of certificates common to the EU, and has been discussing them at the summit meeting last month.

The EU is keeping in mind that it will be introduced by the summer tourism season, but it will take three months just to share the information included in the certificate and to ensure security, and some member countries such as France. Some say, "It's too early because the inoculation isn't progressing enough."
