Kiel (dpa / lno) - The Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Association requires openings for the industry if there are fewer than 50 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

The association appealed to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Tuesday.

According to this, accommodation establishments have a low risk of infection and, if the incidence is below 50, it should be possible to open before the catering trade with the existing hygiene concepts.

"The statements of the RKI should be an occasion for the state government to adjust its step-by-step plan," explained the association's vice-president, Peter Douven.

With 49.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, Schleswig-Holstein has the second lowest incidence in Germany.

10 out of 15 districts and urban cities are under 50

The association argued that in view of the great importance of tourism for Schleswig-Holstein, the lockdown would weaken the economy, which would be irreversible in many parts if the restrictions persist.

"We demand a move away from the undifferentiated closings towards intelligent, safe and responsible openings of the tourism industry within the framework of a nationwide reliable framework with regional differentiations," said chairwoman Stephanie Ladwig.
