Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The Sachsen-Anhalter should soon be able to meet more people again.

It is currently being considered that a household may come together again with up to five other people, said Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) on Tuesday after consultations with his black-red-green cabinet.

So far it is only allowed that a household meets with one other person.

The relaxation could come into force in the so-called Saxony-Anhalt Plan and the associated new corona rules after March 10th.

In addition, economic sectors as well as the cultural and leisure activities are to be ramped up again step by step.

Last week Haseloff presented a first draft of a step-by-step plan, which, however, was criticized as inadequate by many associations and interest groups.

He planned to loosen the contact rules if the number of new infections fell below 50 per 100,000 inhabitants and week.

In addition, the retail trade should be allowed to open its shops for individual customers after making appointments by telephone, and museums should also be accessible again.

If there are fewer than 35 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week, the retail trade should be able to open regularly and restaurants, theaters, cinemas, swimming pools and amusement parks should also be able to resume operations.

In view of the current infection situation, which is currently more than 94 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and week, many business representatives described this as a “wait and see scenario” or “open-end lockdown”.

Prime Minister Haseloff has now announced that the first openings will be planned for between 50 and 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and week and that all plans will be brought forward one step at a time.

At the same time, the vaccination rate is to be increased and more people are to be tested using the corona rapid test.

Whether that happens depends on the results of the federal-state round.

The heads of government of the federal and state levels will discuss how to proceed on Wednesday.

So far, the limit values of 50 and 35 infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week have been the prerequisites for relaxation.

Some prime ministers warn that too many openings could accelerate a third wave of infections.

Very strict restrictions have been in place in Saxony-Anhalt and nationwide since autumn.

Most of the public life was shut down by ordinance.

The aim was to contain the corona infection, which was accompanied by many intensive care patients and deaths around the turn of the year.

Since then, the situation has eased, but Saxony-Anhalt is still hit harder than the national average.
