Russian political circles strongly condemn the new round of sanctions by the United States and Europe

On March 2, local time, the United States and the European Union announced a new round of sanctions against Russia.

In this regard, Russian politicians said that sanctions can only further aggravate Russia's relations with the West, and Russia will take countermeasures.

Kosachev, chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament), told the media that the Western sanctions imposed on the heads of Russian law enforcement agencies are not in line with the norms of international relations.

Kosachev emphasized that sanctions have now become a tool often used by Western countries in dealing with international relations.

Kosachev said Russia will respond to sanctions.

The Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Jabarov called on Russia to respond more severely to the sanctions imposed by the United States.

Jabarov believes that the United States has crossed the border and does not even care about excuses when imposing sanctions.

He was also puzzled by the US allegations of chemical weapons production in Russia. Jabarov stated that Russia had already destroyed chemical weapons stockpiles under the supervision of international organizations, and the situation of the US chemical weapons is still unknown to the outside world.

Slutsky, chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament), also said that Russia will respond to EU sanctions.

Slutsky said that the EU's new sanctions are illegal decisions and will not bring any results. European politicians should have a deep understanding of this.

Slutsky believes that Russia will surely adopt a reciprocal response, but these will eventually make Russia-Europe relations worse.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that Russia had repeatedly stated its opposition to unilateral sanctions, but the United States still imposed sanctions on Russia for no reason.

Lavrov emphasized that the West has not shown any clear evidence of Navaline poisoning. While the case is still vague, the West has begun to punish Russia.

Lavrov said that Russia will follow diplomatic rules to counter sanctions.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov said that the new round of sanctions against Russia being promoted by Western countries will not achieve the expected goals, and Russia will safeguard its own interests.

Peskov believes that the effects of sanctions are limited and will cause harm to bilateral and international relations.

Peskov denied that Russia plans to withdraw from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Peskov explained that Russian President Putin has always supported Russia and Europe to do everything possible to resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation.
