Erfurt / Gera (dpa / th) - The mood in the Thuringian economy is depressed, expectations of an economic recovery are cautious.

That was the result of a survey among 1,100 companies, announced the three Thuringian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHK) on Tuesday.

41 percent of the companies in the Free State feared an overall less favorable economic development this year.

Only 16 percent of companies are currently expecting better business.

There are big differences between the industries.

According to the chambers, the situation of tourism companies and retailers is particularly dramatic.

Overall, 30 percent of the interviewed entrepreneurs rated their situation as good.

38 percent described their business as bad - 32 percent in autumn 2020.

The evaluation in the industry is comparatively optimistic.

One third of the companies rate the economic situation as good, another third come to a satisfactory conclusion.

However, every second company reported fewer orders compared to the previous year.

Nevertheless, twelve percent of industrial companies wanted to hire staff.

Across all industries, only seven percent of the company bosses planned this.

“Many entrepreneurs find it increasingly difficult to look ahead.

You are currently confronted with a lack of prospects and the feeling that you are not being heard », explained the managing director of the IHK Ostthüringen, Peter Höhne, in Gera.

The expectations of the federal-state meeting this Wednesday are correspondingly high.
