Schmalkalden (dpa / th) - Another famous personality swings the advertising drum for Thuringia in miniature format.

In addition to the replicas of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach and the poet Wolfgang von Goethe, a small plastic figure of Friedrich Schiller from the toy manufacturer Playmobil has been available for purchase since Tuesday.

"Such products represent a useful and necessary addition to other state marketing," said Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) on Tuesday.

"This means that Thuringia can be experienced and given as a gift."

In addition to the small plastic replicas, other Thuringian regional marketing articles have also been available on the Internet via the online portal www.thüringen-shop.de since the beginning of the year.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, there is a growing demand for such Thuringian-typical advertising products.

The online portal is intended to help meet this demand better.

The range of products in the Thuringia shop currently includes around 260 items - in addition to typical souvenirs, these also include specific regional products.

Federal states such as Bavaria, Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia already have similar platforms.

On Tuesday, a special version of the classic game Monopoly was presented, which presented the Thuringian Forest.

The game has been completely adapted to the Thuringian Forest.

In addition to cities and municipalities in the Thuringian Forest, the playing field and packaging were provided with photos of sights and highlights.

The corona pandemic and the associated anti-corona measures caused Thuringian tourism to suffer severe slumps last year.

All 9 Thuringian travel areas recorded a noticeable decline in guests and overnight stays booked in 2020.

City tourism suffered the most significant losses with a drop in guests of around 48 percent and around 47 percent fewer overnight stays.
