A local governor told AFP on Wednesday that all girls had been released after an armed group attacked a school in Nigeria, West Africa, and many schoolgirls were taken away.

Armed groups raided a girls'public school dormitory in Zamfara, northwestern Nigeria, on the 26th of last month, according to AFP and other sources, and took away a large number of schoolgirls.

"I'm glad the students are released. Everyone is fine," the governor of Zamfara told AFP on Wednesday.

279 people were taken away, all of whom were released.

Students are supposed to return to their families after being examined at a medical institution.

Authorities said the liberation had been achieved as a result of negotiations with armed groups, and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari told Twitter, "We will try to prevent repeated tragic and tragic incidents," with comments delighting the liberation of the students. We will continue to pursue the criminal, "he said, indicating his intention to strengthen the crackdown on the abduction case.
