Over the past day, 10,565 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Russia.

This is the minimum daily value since October 4.

Also, 14,966 people fully recovered per day.

441 people died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,268,215 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the country.

Over the entire observation period, 3,838,040 people recovered, 86,896 deaths were recorded.

In Moscow, 1277 new cases of coronavirus were detected, in St. Petersburg - 937, in the Moscow region - 617.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over the entire period of observations, over 111.5 million laboratory tests for coronavirus were performed, including 203 thousand in the last day.

555,111 people remain under medical supervision.

Mass vaccination against coronavirus continues in Russia.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs of the Russian Federation has developed a draft resolution that will allow users of the portal of public services to receive the results of vaccination and antibody tests in the personal account of the portal.

According to the document developed by the department, the organizations performing the tests will have to, with the consent of the individual, transfer the results to a special Reference Center.

From there, the data will go to Rospotrebnadzor, after which the department must ensure the exchange of this information with the portal of public services.

Formation of immunity

Collective immunity to coronavirus infection in Russia can be formed in August 2021, provided that the current rate of vaccination against COVID-19 is maintained, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

She believes that in order to determine the timing of achieving herd immunity in Russia, a special epidemiological and mathematical model was developed that takes into account the situation in each region and in the country as a whole.

“Now we proceed from the assumption that if vaccination is proceeding at the pace that it is now, if the number of vaccination points is the same as now, then we, as a country, will achieve herd immunity in August 2021,” she said in an interview with TASS.

At the same time, according to Golikova, this may happen earlier.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the incidence of coronavirus, although encouragingly declining, is still quite serious.

Doctors, in turn, believe that herd immunity at 60% can be achieved by the second half of 2021.

This was expressed by Sergey Voznesensky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University.

According to him, herd immunity can be formed by two mechanisms, the first of which is a real meeting of a person with a virus or a past disease with asymptomatic carriage.

“The second is vaccination.

The rate of vaccination at the moment shows that a little more than two percent of the population is vaccinated, and this is about a month of mass vaccination, ”RIA Novosti quotes Voznesensky.

He added that as the rate of vaccination increases, more people are being formed who are not susceptible to coronavirus.

At the same time, the expert noted, population studies for the presence of antibodies in residents of different regions are needed to assess herd immunity.

Voznesensky explained that earlier the Moscow authorities announced the presence of antibodies in 50-60% of city residents, later Rospotrebnadzor gave similar figures.

He also mentioned that similar data for large cities was published by one of the commercial laboratories.

“If we take these three sources as a basis, it is likely that our immunity will form a little earlier than the second half of 2021,” he concluded.

The situation with COVID-19 in the world

According to the World Health Organization, there are 113.9 million confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide.

More than 2.5 million people have died from the consequences of the disease.

Johns Hopkins University of America, also leading incidence statistics, estimates the number of COVID-19 cases in the world at 114.5 million. According to the organization, more than 2.5 million people have also died from the coronavirus.

The WHO called the announcement of the imminent end of the fight against coronavirus premature.

The director of the WHO emergency program Michael Ryan said that vaccination is gradually beginning to affect the coronavirus, but it is too early to end the confrontation of the pandemic this year.

A similar point of view is shared by the chief researcher at WHO, Sumya Swaminathan.

According to her, at the moment, the organization expects that by the end of the year, vaccination will reduce the number of hospitalizations, deaths and cases of severe disease.
