The indictment chamber of the Bamako Court of Appeal

delivered its deliberations

behind closed doors in the so-called “conspiracy against the government of the Republic” file, said Kassoum Tapo, the lawyer for former Prime Minister Boubou. Cisse.

The court "

canceled the warrants of committal

 " and "

ordered the immediate release of all the accused

", which "

therefore puts an end to this case

", added Me Tapo.

His client, who claimed not to be on the run but “

 in a safe place

” in Bamako, had not been arrested.

Five people had been imprisoned since December, they must therefore be released, including Mohamed Youssouf Bathily, known as "Ras Bath", activist, polemicist and radio host

with many sympathizers

.

The Collective for the Defense of the Republic (CDR), of which Ras Bath is one of the leaders, welcomed this decision.

Justice has just confirmed what we have been saying from the start, so it is a source of pride for us.

Because from day one we said there was a hand hidden behind it.

It is actually for political reasons.

Because Ras Bath is embarrassing.

These personalities were prosecuted for "conspiracy against the government, criminal association, insulting the person of the Head of State and complicity".

The prosecution referred to alleged facts of "

attack on the internal security of the State

 ", "

 serious and consistent indications

 " of the existence of a "

criminal enterprise

" and "

 acts of sabotage

" against initiatives taken by the transitional authorities set up by the military after their putsch last August.

Later that evening on Tuesday, the Bamako general prosecutor's office declared that it opposed the dropping of the charges.

"

We do not agree with the decision taken by the Indictment Chamber

" of the Bamako Court of Appeal, declared in the evening newspaper of public television ORTM the Attorney General Idrissa Arizo Maïga, announcing the intention of the general prosecutor's office to appeal to the Supreme Court.
