Berlin (dpa) - More than five years after a fatal car race on Berlin's Ku'damm, one of the two speeders was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Unlike in two previous judgments, the regional court did not rule on Tuesday on murder.

The now 29-year-old was found guilty of attempted murder and willfully endangering road traffic in the new trial.

A second speedster has now been convicted of murder.

According to investigations, the two men had raced with their car over the Kurfürstendamm in City-West at up to 170 kilometers per hour on February 1, 2016.

The finally convicted driver finally rammed the jeep of an innocent bystanders who had rolled into the intersection when the traffic light was green for him.

The driver died in his car.

The car had been thrown 70 meters through the air.

The two speeders were hardly injured.

The judiciary has been dealing with the case for years.

The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) confirmed the guilty verdict against one of the two defendants.

The federal judges had last overturned the murder sentence for the now 29-year-old and ordered a renegotiation.

His car hadn't collided with the jeep.

The BGH had seen a joint decision to act and thus complicity as not proven.
