Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Before the next federal-state round on the corona restrictions, restaurateurs and hoteliers from all over the state demonstrated in Stuttgart for an opening perspective.

On Tuesday they set up covered but unoccupied tables on Karlsplatz in the city center to draw attention to their situation.

"We were the first whose businesses were closed - we finally have to get out of the permanent lockdown," demanded the chairman of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) in the southwest, Fritz Engelhardt, according to a statement.

Hotels and restaurants should not be disadvantaged compared to other branches of the economy.

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the prime ministers of the federal states want to discuss further measures against the corona pandemic and possible easing of the lockdown on Wednesday.

We expect concrete opening perspectives for the entire hospitality industry - also for the clubs and discos, which have been closed since March 2020, said Engelhardt.

"Nobody at Dehoga is asking politicians to be able to predict the development of the number of infections, and none of us want careless measures that result in a third lockdown," he said.

But if prospects for comparable industries were promised, this would also have to apply to the hospitality industry.
