Paris Saint-Germain won in one evening their last two group matches in the Handball Champions League, on the pitch against the Norwegians of Elverum 44 to 29 and on the green carpet against the Hungarians of Szeged.

The match scheduled for Thursday evening at Paris-Coubertin has been canceled due to cases of Covid in the Szeged team.

The European Federation (EHF) gave the victory (10-0) to the Parisians who can still hope to finish second in their group, provided that the Poles of Kielce are beaten at home by the Germans of Flensburg in two days.

Paris could then play against the Slovenes of Celje in the round of 16 and avoid a Franco-French duel against Nantes.

Facing Elverum, the club of their former winger Luc Abalo (two goals), Luka Karabatic's teammates made the gap in the middle of the first half (19-12 at the break), well helped by the performances their goalkeepers Yann Genty in the first period and Vincent Gérard in the second.

A concern nevertheless for Guillaume Gille, the coach of the Blues, a few days before the Olympic qualifying tournament (from March 12 to 14 in Montpellier against Croatia, Portugal and Tunisia): the exit of Elohim Prandi, hit in the ankle , at the start of the second period after a contact in defense.

Before the kick-off a minute of silence had been observed in memory of Alfredo Quintana.

The goalkeeper of the Portuguese handball team died on Friday at the age of 32 from cardio-respiratory arrest during training.
