Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In the case of a man accused of murder before the Cologne district court, a judgment is expected on Tuesday (2 p.m.).

The 48-year-old is said to have ambushed his former lover in front of her rented apartment in Leverkusen in July 2020 and stabbed her with a dagger.

According to the indictment, the man had already seriously injured his victim with the first stitches, he is said to have inflicted another 31 stab wounds and cuts in order to let her die as painfully as possible.

The public prosecutor's office demanded a life sentence for the Eritrean for insidious murder of low motives.

The defense pleaded for manslaughter and a prison sentence of no more than 13 years.
