Brussels (dpa) - Germany receives construction aid from the European Union to digitize its administration.

According to the EU Commission, three projects will be supported this year: the digitization of financial supervision, the strengthening of digital skills in administration and the digitization of citizen services.

They are part of a program called "Technical Assistance Tool" to advance reforms in the 27 states.

According to the Commission, the EU is spending 102.6 million euros on this this year.

EU aid does not consist of money, but also of expertise that the Commission makes available to governments.

The implementation of the reforms will then have to be financed by itself or from other EU funds.

A total of 226 projects were selected for “technical support” this year.

Many small or new EU states have more projects in the running than Germany.

For example there are eleven in Latvia, ten in Hungary and seven in Bulgaria.

"We need an efficient public administration," said the EU Commissioner responsible, Elisa Ferreira.

"We need the administration to pave the way for recovery."

The technical support should also help to work out the corona development plans of the 27 states and to use the money from the billion-dollar Corona aid fund optimally.
