Mainz (AP) - A man drove his car unbraked against a tree on Landstrasse 425 in Mainz and was critically injured.
The head-on collision occurred on Tuesday between the intersection of the exhibition grounds and Mainz-Ebersheim, as the fire brigade announced.
Two paramedics, who happened to be on site, provided first aid before the emergency services arrived.
The driver involved in the accident was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
How the accident came about was initially unclear.
