Ingolstadt (dpa / lby) - The car manufacturer Audi has been using gender-sensitive language in its written communication since Monday.

As the company based in Ingolstadt announced on Tuesday, they wanted to better represent the diversity of the sexes.

“Appreciation, openness, responsibility and integrity are the basis of our corporate culture,” said Audi HR Director Sabine Maaßen.

"We make this clear in our language too."

First of all, the "Augsburger Allgemeine" reported.

Gender-sensitive language is a question of respect and an expression of an attitude against discrimination and for diversity, said Maaßen.

That is why Audi will use the so-called gender gap from March 1, for example among the “Audi employees”.

The notation recommended by the employers' initiative “Diversity Charter” depicts all non-binary gender identities, i.e. neither female nor male.
