Xi Jinping: "The beauty of harmony lies in harmony and difference." The diversity of human civilization is the basic feature of the world and the source of human progress.

This passage comes from a speech by Xi Jinping at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva on January 18, 2017.

"The beauty of harmonious soup lies in the combination of differences", which is published in the history book "Three Kingdoms", means that the delicious soup of soup lies in the combination of different seasonings, as a metaphor for uniting all aspects of the force to do a good job.

Respecting the diversity of things and devoting to the harmonious coexistence of diversity is not only the way of coexistence among different civilizations advocated by China today, but also the quintessence of Chinese excellent traditional culture.

In this regard, the ancient Chinese also said that "the things are not uniform, the feelings of the things are also", "harmonious creatures, the same will not continue", and "gentlemen are harmonious but different."

From the ancient Chinese "Silk Road" to today's "One Belt, One Road", from the Tang Dynasty Xuanzang to today's Asian Civilization Dialogue Conference, they are all examples of different civilizations learning from each other and making progress together.

Building a community with a shared future for mankind has a long way to go, and the international community needs to make efforts in many aspects, including exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

There is no distinction between superior and inferior, superior and inferior, there are only differences in characteristics and regions. Civilization exchanges and mutual learning can become the driving force for the advancement of human society and the bond of maintaining world peace.

Facing the world with endless global challenges, the permanent solution is to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

In the face of the colorful, complex and diverse human civilizations, we should abandon "arrogance and prejudice" and respect each other, treat each other as equals, be harmonious but different, and share the same beauty.
