North Korean man who came down to the east coast last month was spotted eight times by surveillance equipment, but our military did not notice.

In particular, even though the beeps sounded twice, I thought it was wrong and I just turned it off.

However, as a result of our interviews, it was confirmed that the division's surveillance cameras erroneously sounded a warning signal 210,000 times a year.

It was so sensitive that it kept beeping even when flying birds or wind.

First, Kwak Sang-eun's exclusive report.

<Reporter> The

22nd Division's responsibility boundary is 30km on land and 70km off the coast from Goseong, Gangwon-do.

With the introduction of a scientific alert system in 2016, surveillance cameras were installed closely instead of soldiers on this 100km railroad fence.

When suspicious movement is detected, a warning sound and warning signal are automatically displayed on the monitor in the SOC room.

The problem is that it is too sensitive.

As a result of the Army's own investigation, a surveillance camera of the 22nd Division, where the swimming defection occurred, issued a warning signal 210,000 times in a year, a senior military official said.

It sounded 575 times a day, 24 times an hour, but there were no motion winners, and most of them were actually false alarms in response to strong winds.

As a whole, it was found that each camera triggered false alarms 200 times a day and more than 60,000 times a year.

One Socho control room managed 9 such cameras, and the alarm went off day and night.

[Sensor-born evacuees: Events (warning signals) keep ringing once or twice a minute, and we can't see them all.

It is likely to get a neurosis when I'm on duty.] It was found that the

guards were busy turning off and on equipment that had false alarms rather than looking at the monitor.

[Ha Tae-kyung / National Power Member (National Defense Committee on the 23rd of last month): Do you know how many false alarms?

This is the software, the design of the software that sounds the alarm (alarm) is wrong in the first place.] For

this reason, on the 16th of last month, even though a North Korean man was detected by surveillance equipment eight times and beeps twice, he passed safely 9km south of the military demarcation line.
