Border surveillance of the Swedish-Finnish border has been expanded and has become increasingly staff-intensive.

Therefore, the local police area Kalix staff has requested and received the go-ahead for police officers from all over the country to help for as long as needed.

"Now we get muscle"

Local police area chief Lars Öberg says that it is gratifying and good that there will be a national reinforcement of police at the border guard station.

- It is new from today that we receive national reinforcement for the first time, including from Stockholm.

Now we have the opportunity to use our own police resources for other important and prioritized activities and that is good.

In addition, we feel we have the muscle to keep this limit guarded for as long as needed.

How many police officers are included in the national reinforcement?

- We do not go out with it for tactical reasons, but we have received the resources we have requested and we will have it for a long time, says Lars Öberg.
