Essen (dpa / lnw) - The first week of March starts mild and dry in North Rhine-Westphalia.

"Up to and including Wednesday there are relatively friendly days and clear nights," said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Monday.

Clouds over parts of the country should loosen up in the course of the day, then the sun shows itself.

In the north, the weather service expects around eight degrees, in the Rhineland near Cologne it will be up to 14 degrees.

In the night on Tuesday it cools down to minus two degrees, which is why there can be widespread ground frost, said the meteorologist.

Tuesday brings a lot of sun and temperatures of up to 18 degrees on the Rhine.

Up to 16 degrees are also possible on Wednesday, with the sun shining again.

It stays dry and serene.

According to the DWD forecast, that should change on Thursday: Then many clouds and occasional rain can be expected in the country.
