Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Sports director Fredi Bobic should want to leave Eintracht Frankfurt according to a media report.

The TV broadcaster Sky reported on Monday evening that the 49-year-old had internally deposited this intention with the Bundesliga club.

Negotiations are now pending to terminate the contract, the report says.

Concrete talks or an agreement have not yet been reached.

Neither Bobic himself nor Eintracht could initially be reached for comment.

The former international striker has been working for Hessen since summer 2016, and his contract with them is valid until the end of June 2023. Most recently, Bobic was repeatedly traded as a possible successor to Michael Preetz, who was dismissed as managing director at Hertha BSC in January.

Eintracht President Peter Fischer recently emphasized that he hoped that Bobic would stay beyond the summer.

«Fredi has a contract.

I am someone who attaches great importance to being faithful to contracts.

I think we have a relationship like that too.

We had an open, very friendly, very clean and successful relationship for five years, ”said Fischer a good week ago on Sky.

Coach Adi Hütter also affirmed in a talk on the TV station on Sunday that "it would be important not only for me, but also for the whole club if Fredi stayed in Frankfurt".
