Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In the Rhineland-Palatinate holiday regions, inquiries from guests for offers and information are currently increasing according to industry information.

Nevertheless, there are no specific holiday bookings due to the unclear corona development, as the state-owned marketing company Rhineland-Palatinate Tourism announced on Monday.

The previous booking figures for the spring months are therefore significantly below the previous year's level.

“The lack of an open perspective does not only affect our tourism experts and hosts in the country,” said managing director Stefan Zindler.

"Our guests, too, are still unsure whether it is even worthwhile to start planning their vacation more specifically."

But even if only a gradual relaxation of the corona restrictions can be expected, the companies in Rhineland-Palatinate are already preparing for the upcoming season - without a specific time horizon and with partially limited options, he explained.

According to the information, a similar picture emerges in terms of travel trends as last year.

Individual holidays in holiday apartments or on campsites, family holidays and active holidays with a focus on hiking or cycling are in demand.

The trend towards more short-term bookings is also obviously continuing.
