Berlin (dpa) - Before the talks between the federal and state governments about possible easing of the Corona crisis, the German Museum Association has campaigned for the museums to be opened quickly.

"Against the background of increasing psychological stress and loneliness, a visit to the museum can be an important ray of hope that gives support and hope," said a message from Monday in Berlin.

From the point of view of the interest group, museums are “safe places”.

However, experts repeatedly point out that in the case of a high number of infections, the transmission routes have not been clarified.

In addition, the lockdown should also avoid arrivals and departures.

The Museumsbund advocates “taking the social role of museums into account and reopening them as quickly as possible”.

Cultural institutions have been closed again since November.

It was said that museums offer stimulation, exchange and spiritual relaxation.

"Older people in particular, and those particularly affected by the pandemic, can regain an important part of their everyday life in museums."

If many children and young people threaten to lose touch with school and the educational system, museums with their educational offers are indispensable.
