In recent years, various places along the Yangtze River and relevant departments have generally intensified their crackdown and rectification efforts. The large-scale illegal sand mining activities in the Yangtze River Basin have been significantly reduced. However, as the price of sand and gravel continues to rise, many criminals have been driven by huge profits to take risks and continue to upgrade. Crime tools, updated crime methods and other methods have resisted the trend, and concealed illegal sand mining activities have risen.

  Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has responded to the rebound in illegal sand mining in some waters of the Yangtze River. In January this year, the Ministry of Public Security specially deployed a one-year special operation against illegal sand mining in the Yangtze River by the public security organs, attacking with a "zero tolerance" attitude.   Since the launch of the special operation, 85 criminal cases involving sand have been detected, 236 suspects have been arrested, 24 criminal gangs have been destroyed, 21 illegal sand mining ships and 52 sand transport ships have been seized, with a total amount of more than 17 million yuan. .

  Li Jingsheng said that starting today, the Yangtze River Protection Law will be formally implemented, marking that the Yangtze River protection has entered a new stage of legal protection.

In the next step, the Ministry of Public Security will conscientiously implement the relevant requirements of the Yangtze River Protection Law, deepen the special action against illegal sand mining crimes in the Yangtze River, and earnestly maintain the Yangtze River flood control safety, channel safety, and ecological safety, and spare no effort to protect the Yangtze River.
