Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Who will receive the International Nuremberg Human Rights Award for this year?

This year's winner will be announced today.

However, due to the corona pandemic, the award ceremony will not take place in the opera house until spring 2022.

The prize is awarded every two years to people who, sometimes at considerable risk, campaign for the protection of human rights.

The 2019 winner is Chilean Rodrigo Mundaca, who has been fighting for free access to water for years.

The award has been presented by an international jury since 1995 and is endowed with 15,000 euros.

According to the statutes, the prize is a symbol that in the former city of the National Socialist party rallies “in the present and future only signals of peace and international understanding are emitted”.
