Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The termination of collective bargaining agreements in the motor vehicle industry is causing severe criticism from IG Metall.

The employers had terminated the collective wage agreements for around 55,000 employees in the industry in Baden-Württemberg as well as parts of the general collective agreement at the end of May without informing the union in advance.

"This is not how social and negotiating partners treat each other," said IG Metall district manager Roman Zitzelsberger on Monday.

Such an approach will not remain without resistance, he announced.

The employers' collective bargaining community rejected the criticism.

The automotive industry was struggling with the biggest economic slump in its history, it said.

Responsible and serious action presupposes that the social partners work their way out of the crisis together.

We look forward to constructive negotiations with IG Metall.
