Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Finally cutting and tinting hair again: The hairdressers, which have been closed for weeks, have been allowed to reopen since Monday.

Some wanted to be able to serve their customers as early as possible and opened at midnight.

Just like Henry Riehl, who runs two shops called “District Hairdresser”.

At that early hour, he served several customers in his salon in the Barmbek district.

"The joy is huge," he said of the reopening.

"Earning money, seeing customers and employees again - everything suddenly has a purpose again."

During the lockdown, Riehl delivered drinks in order to be able to earn money.

The Hamburg population has a lot of catching up to do: According to the Hamburg guild, the appointment books for the coming weeks are already well filled.

The hairdressing salons have been closed because of the pandemic since mid-December, and in spring 2020 they had to close.

In between, the companies were allowed to open - but only in compliance with strict conditions.
