The European Union will propose in March a draft legislation on an electronic vaccination passport, announced Monday, March 1, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Last week, EU heads of state and government agreed to work on vaccination passports for citizens of the bloc who have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Asked to say what this digital passport might look like, Ursula von der Leyen said during a videoconference with German conservative elected officials: "We will present a legislative proposal in March".

Several countries - foremost among them Greece and Spain - are pushing for the rapid adoption of a vaccination passport valid throughout the EU in order to once again allow travel between member countries and boost tourism.
France and Germany, however, seem reluctant to this idea, representatives having warned that this could establish a de facto vaccination requirement for travel and would discriminate against those unable or unwilling to receive an injection of the vaccine.
