Berlin (dpa / bb) - The dry spell of the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) continues.

On Monday evening, the capital city lost against the Grizzly Wolfsburg 2: 3 (0: 0, 1: 2, 1: 0, 0: 1) after extra time.

Despite the goals of Zach Boychuk and Jonas Müller, the leaders of the northern group suffered their third defeat in a row.

In front of empty stands in the arena at Ostbahnhof, both teams played a fast-paced game in the first third, in which the polar bears fired more shots on goal and also had the greatest chance: Captain Frank Hördler was unlucky when he only hit the inside post.

Shortly after the first break, however, the guests took the lead: attacker Anthony Rech took advantage of the inattentiveness of the Berlin back line and scored completely unobstructed from close range.

With a power player from Garrett Festerling, the Lower Saxony expanded their lead before Boychuk was able to shorten the majority.

After Müller had scored to equalize in the final section, the home side continued to pressure, but lacked the necessary precision against the robustly defending Wolfsburg.

So Pekka Jormakka was able to decide the game with his goal in overtime in favor of the guests.
