Al-Raffa Police Station achieved 100% contact with victims of criminal reports and traffic accidents during the past year, despite the circumstances of the Corona pandemic.

The director of the center, Brigadier General Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita, told "Emirates Today" that the victim communication department at the center contacted 9,360 cases last year, including a pregnant African tourist who got stuck in ways, after she was exposed to a fraud by a person of her nationality. She seized her money and important documents under the pretext of obtaining a visitor's visa for her to Germany, and she was followed up until she gave birth, reached the perpetrator, and ended her suffering.

In detail, Bin Ghalita explained that the center attaches great importance to the victim communication department, given its humanitarian role in alleviating the suffering of victims of traffic accidents and criminal reports, pointing out that the department won the Commander in Chief Award for Victim Care, at the end of its sessions in 2019, during which it communicated with 11 thousand And 882 victims, and despite the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, last year, the department achieved 100% of the tasks assigned to it.

He added that the department monitors the psychological, health and moral state of the victim, in addition to developments related to his case, or the accident to which he was exposed, and visits accident victims in hospitals to check on them, and to ensure that they receive the necessary care, during the period of treatment.

Ben Ghalita indicated that one of the communications with which the department dealt with was from two African tourists, one of whom was pregnant in the last month, who had been exposed to a fraud by a person of the same nationality, as he accused them of his ability to obtain a visitor's visa for them to Germany, so they handed him their passports and the certificate of the marriage contract. For a pregnant woman, so that she can give birth there.

He added that the man told them that he had started the transaction procedures, and asked each woman $ 6,000 for the procedure fee, then he disappeared after seizing the money, and leaving them in difficult circumstances, especially the pregnant visitor, pointing out that she gave birth to her baby in a hospital, and then ran into another problem related to the necessity of a contract Marriage, so that she can register the child, otherwise she will be liable to be charged with another crime, which is pregnancy outside marriage.

He stated that as soon as she sought refuge at the Al-Raffa Police Station, the necessary measures were taken to assist her, so the center reached the person who took her belongings and money from her, and recovered from him the passports and the marriage contract, which achieved great happiness for the woman and completely alleviated her suffering, then obliged the person to sign a pledge to return the money To her and her friend.

The woman expressed her sincere appreciation for the role of Dubai Police in ending her suffering, through the Victim Communication Section.

Contain family disputes

The director of the Al-Raffa Police Station, Brigadier General Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita, said that the Victim Communication Department is in charge of dealing with family disputes, working hard at the outset to contain them, and to limit their access to the courts as much as possible.

He explained that among the cases that the department dealt with was a marital problem, which began with exaggerated financial claims by the wife, and her repeated blame for the husband for not being able to meet her needs, which prompted him to clash with her, and the dispute developed to reach between their families, and the relationship became greatly strained.

He added that the victim communication section brought the two parties together, and held a friendly session between them, during which he was keen to bridge the gap, explain the consequences of escalating the dispute, its arrival in the court yard and its impact on children, and the problem was contained in the center, and the water returned to its course.
