Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - At the start of a trial for drug trafficking in a prison, three of the four defendants made confessions.

A spokesman for the Freiburg Regional Court said on Monday that they made a blanket statement about their lawyers.

The public prosecutor's office accuses three 22, 33 and 47-year-old men of having traded drugs in the Freiburg prison in mid-2018.

A 36-year-old prison officer is said to have helped them.

She is charged separately, also for corruption (Ref .: 15 KLs 620 Js 33188/19).

According to the allegations, the two older men are said to have concocted the plan during their detention to gain extra income by trading narcotics in jail.

The youngest defendant was supposed to buy drugs and other ordered items outside of the prison and send them to the two prisoners through the prison officer.

The officer is said to have received 1,000 and 1,500 euros for the first two deliveries.

Other outside orders - tablets, 550 grams of hashish, cell phones and SIM cards - were discovered.

The group was exposed.
