The Austrian Rosina Schneeberger, victim of a heavy fall Sunday during the super-G of Val di Fassa (Italy), was operated on for a double open fracture of the tibia-fibula of the right leg, announced Monday the Austrian Federation downhill skiing (OSV).
"She was operated on Sunday in the early evening in Innsbruck and the operation went well," said the OSV.
Schneeberger slammed into a gate at the top of the course before finishing her run also in the safety nets, screaming in pain, while waiting to be transported to a local hospital.
Earlier in the Women's World Cup race, Norway's Kajsa Vickhoff Lie also crashed heavily.
Lie fell halfway before rushing into the safety nets, requiring an interruption of more than 20 minutes to be evacuated by helicopter.
She also suffers from a broken leg.
The 27-year-old Schneeberger was absent from the World Cup circuit for three years with a serious knee injury.
