  • Education: Teachers and students in Madrid will have the obligation to report bullying

A 13-year-old girl took 16 diazepam pills last Thursday to try to take her own life after being a victim of bullying by several classmates from her institute in the municipality of Colmenarejo (Madrid).

The little girl began to feel unwell in her room.

A cousin of hers sounded the alarm when she came to visit her.

When her mother came up to her room, the girl

was in bed crying and half sleepy.

He couldn't get up.

She was taken by her relatives to the Villalba Hospital where upon arrival she confessed that she had taken many tablets from her mother's medicine bottle.

She

was

immediately

subjected to an activated charcoal treatment to reduce the absorption of the poison.

The next day she was transferred to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital.

The minor was admitted to the Psychiatry Unit due to her state of anxiety.

At first the specialists

recommended that he be admitted to this unit for at least three months,

but he has finally returned home.

She will have to go to the hospital weekly to be examined and will have to take medication daily.

"They wanted her to have no contact with the outside world and not be able to handle electronic devices, but in the end she has shown repentance and has recognized her mistakes," explains Charo, her mother.

The little girl had been bullied for at least four years by a group of between five and seven classmates.

She has been harassed by the students on social networks and threatened and attacked at the door of the center.

The main hobby of the students was to undermine her and spread the offenses on the networks.

His family regrets that strict measures have not been taken against the bullies and

this week he will file a complaint with the Civil Guard.

The Gregorio Peces Barba de Colmenarejo institute was aware of the minor's situation and

had adopted some prevention and support actions for the girl

without actually activating the protocol for harassment.

So far, no disciplinary action has been taken against the aggressors.

Since the last years of primary school, the minor suffered attacks and cruel harassment from several classmates at Las Veredas de Colmenarejo school, at that time the girl was overweight.

Then, when he went to the Gregorio Peces Barba institute in the same municipality, the harassment continued.

At recess she was insulted and humiliated.

When leaving school, the mockery and derogatory words against the girl were repeated.

The youngest girl told her mother about her problems without recounting all the most perverse details.

The mother transferred him to the address without knowing the full gravity of the case

.

The tutor, explains his mother, spoke with the alleged stalkers, but they did not cease their siege.

To try to avoid conflicts, her mother began to accompany her to school.

“The trigger that led her to try to kill herself is that she was fed up.

That he couldn't take it anymore, ”says his mother.

"She was tired of being insulted, being laughed at in the hallways and being mocked by high school groups," she adds.

Last Friday the girl's mother met with the management of the center.

They pointed out that they were unaware that the harassment was so prolonged in time and that the girl was being followed.

«They

told me that they saw her happy, that she was charming and that they even remembered how she brought cookies

and other things for Christmas.

They didn't see that it was so bad, ”his mother complains.

"But the other day before the psychiatrists she told everything that happened and how the students humiliated her by saying: 'tell your mother,'" adds the woman.

Her mother says that now the girl feels bad about herself.

"He says he should have asked for help, but he is afraid of meeting the girls on the street or at the institute," says the mother.

From Education they did not know the case of this girl.

The anti-bullying team reported that there is no open protocol for bullying on this girl.
