Rastatt (dpa / lsw) - A 77-year-old fell into a construction pit several meters deep in Rastatt and died.
The man had previously forced his bike through a barrier, brushed against construction equipment and then fell into the pit, the police said on Monday.
Attempts to revive the senior were unsuccessful.
He died at the scene of the accident.
Why the man bypassed the cordon on Monday afternoon was initially unclear.
The investigators now want to clarify the circumstances of his death.
